The story is set in modern times. It is said that in every generation, there will be a young girl who searches for and fights against demons and monsters in the world, such as vampires, bad witches and other evil forces. This young girl is called Slayer, who is also the heroine of this series – Buffy. The story begins when Buffy knocks down the entire gymnasium when catching vampires in a school in L.A., so she is kicked out of the school. After that, her mother Joyce and she move to a place called Sunnydale in California to live, but it turns out that all this is also the arrangement of fate.
故事背景在現代，話說於每一個世代都會出現一個年青的女孩子，在人世間尋找及對付一些妖魔鬼怪，例如有吸血鬼、壞女巫等等邪惡的勢力，而這個年青的女孩子則被稱為Slayer ，亦即是本劇中的女主角——Buffy。故事的開始是因Buffy在L.A.的學校中捉拿吸血鬼的時候把整個體育館弄倒了，故被學校踼了出來，之後她的母親Joyce與她搬到加州名叫Sunnydale的一個地方生活，但原來這一切也是命運的安排
