Mike (Wentworth Miller) and his brother Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) have been dependent on each other since their mother died and their father disappeared. Although Lincoln is a street gangster, he borrowed $90,000 from a loan shark without telling Mike that it was his mother’s insurance in order to help his brother complete his studies and get ahead. Mike successfully became a structural engineer with the money and entered the upper class. In order to repay the loan shark, Lincoln reluctantly agreed to a stranger’s request to shoot someone. When Lincoln arrived at the parking lot as planned, he found that his target had been shot and died. In a panic, Lincoln ran back home. The police quickly caught him at Lincoln’s home. The innocent Lincoln then found that all the evidence pointed to him. Mike finally learned from his friends what his brother had done for him. He regretted his arrogance towards his brother at the time. After investigation, Mike believed that his brother was framed, and the frame-up might involve a senior government official behind the scenes! Seeing that all his methods could not help his brother clear his name, Mike remembered that he had once taken over the renovation project of Fox River Prison where Lincoln was imprisoned. He had a complete set of blueprints there. So, after a year of careful preparation, Mike deliberately committed a crime and entered Fox River Prison. He wanted to use his own strength to successfully rescue Lincoln, who was sentenced to death.”
